A Stylish Hat for Any Occaision

Duckbill

A fashionable Duckbill hat

The Duckbill hat originated in Northern England in the 19th Century. It sports a rounded crown with a downward-sloping brim, resembling a duck’s bill, hence the name.

It was originally worn by the working class in Victorian England, but today is seen to have a versatility in style. You will find these caps worn in both casual and semi-formal settings.

Because of shows like “Peaky Blinders,” this style of hat is once again gaining popularity.

Fedora

The Fedora first appeared in 1890 in a play called “Fedora.” A female actress wore the original hat. It then gained popularity and by the mid-1900s had become a stylish hat for men.

It is characterized by a creased crown that is pinched at the front. It has a brim that measures between 2 and 4 inches and can be worn either up or down.

These hats are perfect for those who wish to add flair to their style. The hats are often adorned with coloured bands and feathers along with the individual’s choice of how to wear the brim.

Trilby

A fancy Trillby hat

The Trilby has a similar look to the Fedora, but its subtle differences give it a character all its own. The brim on this hat is small, typically less than 1.5 inches. The crown looks sharper than the Fedora’s as well.

The Trillby also has its origins in literature, as it is named after a character in an 1894 book and play.  With its small brim, the hat was not very practical as protection from the sun, so it became a symbol of the upper class in England.

Today, the Trillby stands out as an iconic, and rare, fashion statement.
